Petroleum Engineering Research
The faculty in Petroleum Engineering (PETE) Program are engaged in scholarly activities that range from applied to fundamental research. They have been very successful in establishing strong collaboration with National and International Oil Companies. The PETE faculty secured over $5 million in research funding during the last two years. Active research areas in the PETE program include: reservoir characterization, modeling & simulation; CO2 sequestration and enhanced oil recovery; production enhancement with acid stimulation and optimization with special emphasis on gas condensate reservoirs; and drilling fluids and cement design. All of the research projects place a special emphasis on gas, gas-condensate and oil reservoirs in carbonate systems. We have research laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment in these areas. We also have well trained research staff with experience in modeling and experimental research.
